Me llamo Wandie Ortiz y vivo en Dallas, Texas. Yo soy originalmente de la Isla del Encanto, Puerto Rico.
Porque mi padre fue militar, crecí en Fort Knox, Kentucky, entre un bosque bonito y un establo de caballos. En el bosque de Kentucky es donde me enamore de todas las cosas naturales. Especialmente de los animales.
Cuando mi padre jubiló del ejercito, mis padres compraron una casa en Puerto Rico, y me mudé con ellos. En Puerto Rico, aprendí como usar los colores brillantes del caribe en todas mis pinturas y diseños.
En Dallas, espero continuar usando los colores del caribe, animales y diseños interesantes en mis prendas y pinturas. Mi perro Spencer, un Dachshund de 12 libras, y mi Lovebird Beckham (nombrado por David Beckham) siempre me dan inspiración.
Soy una ilustradora freelance en Brown Books Publishing, miembro del Team PCAGOE, Etsy for Animals, Dachshund Team y por supuesto, Etsy in Spanish Team.

Hola, me presento. Me llamo Ana Buigues, tengo 46 años (en 2009) y mi tienda en Etsy es contexto. Soy de Valencia, España, ciudad donde vivo en la actualidad. Aunque me encanta mi aventura en Etsy, a la cual dedico todo el tiempo libre que tengo, me gano la vida como traductora (inglés <> castellano) y diseñadora web.Hello, my name is Ana Buigues, I am 46 years old (that is in 2009), and my Etsy shop is contexto. Although I love my Etsy adventure, to which I devote all the free time I have, I make a living as a translator (English <> Spanish) and web designer.
A ver, sobre mi aventura en Etsy. Siempre he hecho cosas a mano para mi y mi familia y amigos y siempre me ha gustado. Mi madre, me enseñó a coser y a hacer punto cuando era una adolescente y mi abuela me enseñó a hacer capazos de palmito – el palmito es una palmera enana mediterránea. De mi padre heredé el gusto por cuidar los libros, forrándolos y arreglándolos cuando se estropeaban. Además, soy una “friki” total del reciclaje, no sólo por el respeto al medio ambiente, sino también por el rechazo al exagerado consumismo al que tanta gente parece abocada para mostrar cierto estatus. Un día de 2007 haciendo una búsqueda en Google sobre productos de papelería descubrí Etsy por casualidad. Desde entonces no he podido desengancharme.
Let’s see, about my Etsy adventure. Well, I have always made things for myself and for my family and friends, and I have always liked it. It was my mom who taught me how to sew and knit when I was a teenager, and my grandmother taught me how to wave bags from palm leaves from a Mediterranean palm tree variant called ´palmito.´ My dad taught me to take very good care of books, one should put them a plastic cover, and repair them if they got damaged. Moreover, I am recycling freak, not only because of the environmental issues, but also because of my rejection of the exaggerated consumerism to which so many people are prone – in order to show off about their status. One day, in 2007, I was running a search on Google on sustainable stationary products and I found Etsy by chance. I have been an Etsy junky since then.
En mis trabajos de encuadernación me gusta tanto la estética cutre, rústica e inacabada como la del lujo decadente. Me gusta crear cosas que se puedan usar durante mucho tiempo, que sean metamórficas mientras se usan. Me encanta crear nuevos objetos a partir de lo que se ha descartado como útil. Estoy muy interesada en la encuadernación alternativa y en el arte correo.
Quiero hacer otras cosas – fuera de la encuadernación y ponerlas en mi tienda Etsy, pero ya veremos...
For my bookbinding works I like both, a shaggy, rustic and unfinished look as well as a decadent and lush aesthetic. I like to create thins than can be used for a very long time, that change while they are being used. I love creating new objects from things that have been discarded as useful. I am very interested in alternative bookbinding and mail art.
I have plans to make other things for my Etsy shop – apart from bookbinding - but we will see ...

Prueben Trunkt!
TrunkT está diseñado específicamente para artesanos que buscan crear un hermoso porfolio donde exponer sus productos y toda la información de marketing con el objeto de lograr ventas al por mayor.
Todos los artesanos podemos tener cuenta allí, aunque el requisito para poder acceder es tener fotos casi profesionales: en foco, bien iluminadas y que el objeto a mostrar esté en primer plano.
Tres fotos son las necesarias para solicitar una cuenta allí. Una vez aprobados tenemos dos posibilidades una gratuita Trial o bien un abono anual Premium.
El paquete Trial es gratuito y nos permite exponer 3 productos, con sus respectivos precios, descripciones, tags y un link a nuestra tienda. Además ellos proveen de un badget para colocar en nuestros blogs.
La cuenta Premium, con un precio anual de U$A 49.00, además de lo indicado anteriormente, agrega la posibilidad de exponer todos los productos que queramos, a la venta o ya vendidos, cuantos más mejor! Organizar nuestros productos en colecciones, publicar ofertas y condiciones de venta al por mayor, tener prioridad en la pagina principal y en las búsquedas, y la provisión de badgets y widgets más sofisticados.
Otras características interesantes de TrunkT es la posibilidad de hacer “showcases”, que son como los treasuries de Etsy pero con algunas ventajas: quedan registrados en una base de datos y además cuando los seleccionan para el Front Page duran 1 día!
Lo bueno, lo malo, conviene?
- Probar con la cuenta gratuita: ¿Por qué no? Es una forma de poder saber si estamos en carrera. Nosotras lo intentamos dos veces. La primera vez no aprobamos y nos sirvió para darnos cuenta de que había que mejorar. La segunda vez nos fue bien.
- 46 dólares no es poco dinero en estos días de pocas ventas, pero puestos a comparar con otras publicidades pagas es muy barata:
1. 1 porfolio en TrunkT $49 por año = $ 0.13 al día
2. 1 banner en un showcase en Etsy cuesta $ 7.00 por un solo día
3. 1 banner en CraftCult o Craftopolis cuesta $ 15 por 7 días = $ 2.14 al día
4. 1 banner en Let’s Ets cuesta $ 0.40 por un solo día = $146 en un año
- Hacen publicidad en la tele.
Y lo que para el grupo es lo mejor: Etsy in Spanish está en TrunkT! Algunos miembros del grupo ya tienen cuenta, y por supuesto están invitados a formar parte del grupo. Esto nos permitirá crear nuestros propios showcases y en consecuencia una presencia mayor en la web. Prueben Trunkt!

dUaLcHoCoLaTe quiere ser un dulce plural, un colectivo posible en el arte de lo cotidiano. Aqui se crea todos los dias como: compañeras, madres y poetas. En resumen y sin decir mas ni menos: Mujeres.Dualchocolate wants to be that common and collective denominator united through art.
Here we make a creation happened everyday, as lifemates, mothers,an poets. In short, and without undermining the full meaning of the concept: "Women"
Con tres generaciones de manos al hilo y a la aguja, como referentes; arraigamos nuestras ideas y practicas en lo tradicional y natural.
With three generations mastering thread and needle as references, we rooted our ideas and practices to salvage and nature, and to preserved tradition through nature.
A que le rinde culto/tributo el arte de dualchocolate: Nuestro altar si lo tuvieramos se encontraria que veneramos a los amigos, lo natural, (somos veganos), asi que las fibras naturales, nuestras creaciones en hilo, aguja y papel.
What does dUaLcHoCoLaTe give tribute/workship to? Our altar, if we had any, would benerate our friends, nature(we're vegans)as well as natural fibers, our creations in yarn, thread, paper and needle.
Y los Chocolat-Osos: estos osos que recuerdan al chocolate, son nuestro homenaje-tributo a la permanente infancia cronica de todos debemos de padecer, para conservar las enseñanzas de antaño y las que no se van con los años.
And the Chocolat-osos? Those are our chocolate memoirs, they are our tribute to the neverending childhood syndrome, from which all of us should chronically suffer, to preserve the good times those that can not fadeaway.
En que trasciende la creacion de dUaLcHoCoLate: Resulta que hacemos más que tejer y actualizar nuestra tienda Etsy. Nosotros en dUaLcHoCoLatE vivimos frente al mar o pensando en el.
How does dUaLcHoCoLaTe's creations transcend? It just happens that we do more than crochet, knit and update our Etsy shop. We at dualchocolate live by the sea or reminiscing about the sea.
Disfrutamos el arte todo, en cualquier idioma, forma y color, de ahi que nos queda bien la camiseta Artist(a). Amamos la literatura y la poesia, y como muestra de ello "Policromias a piel" de Eslin Morris Wright "que me quede el alma policromada de cantos de historia/ de tambores curtidos en memorias de pieles grabadas/Policromada el alma vertebrando ritmos y desmembrando sones/ que me quede el alma cargando creencias y vivencias en silencios negros/ con tantas policromias en resistencia: llevar la piel intacta".
We enjoy all forms of Art, any expressions, any language, any shape and color. From there, we have created our Artist(a) t-shirt lisiting id #18971534. We love, Literature and Poetry, and to show for that "Policromias a piel" (polychromed skin) written by Eslin Morris Wright (let my soul remain polychromed through the songs of history through the weatherbeaten drums, in the memories on branded skins. Polychromed this soul giving vertebraes to rhythms and dismembering sounds. Let my soul carry-on creeds and deeds in black silences. with all those plychromes in resistence carry through with my skin untouched).
El arte se nos vuelve inmenso y en el dia no nos alcanzan las horas para crear, confeccionar, palpar, esculpir y entregar; asi que lo nuestro es un proceso continuo y cotidiano, y de esa manera se va mostrando... con los dias.
To us Art is vast, and the day does not have enough hours for us to create, ensemble, sculpt, and render the last product, so ours is a continuous process which is given to us everyday to give everyday away...
