Hola! Quisiera introducirme a todos ustedes aqui en Etsyinspanish! Me llamo Liz Ging. Vivo en la cuidad de Boston, en el estado de Massachusetts, en los EEUU. Hace tres meses, abri mi tienda en Etsy, SweetfernStudio, para vender la ropa que tiño a mano. Quisiera introducirles mis inspiraciones y técnicas...
Hello! I would like to introduce myself to all of you here on Etsyinspanish! My name is Liz Ging. I live in Boston, in the state of Massachusetts, in the U.S. I recently opened a shop on Etsy, called SweetfernStudio, to sell my hand-dyed clothing. I would like to give you a bit of introduction to my inspirations and techniques...
El pasaje de tiempo es la conexión entre mi interes en el arte y mi interes en la historia. Cosas del pasado traen su historia, y la evidencia y pistas de sus vidas pasadas. El hacer del arte es una manera de marcar la historia. Por explorar muchos técnicos, yo he visto que cada hilo de un textil, cada diseño en una servilleta bordada, y cada hoja de papel hecho a mano, es un pedazo de mi propia cuenta.
The passage of time is the connection between my interest in art and my interest in history. Things with a past carry layers of history and bear the subtle marks of time. Art-making is a marker of time. Through exploring many techniques, I have come to see each weft row in a weaving, stitch on cloth, and piece of paper drawn from the vat as a mark on my own timeline. Just as artifacts from the past are a record of the reality of the people who created them, my work is a record of my own reality.
I also draw inspiration from wild places. I love observing and sketching plants that are in different stages of growth and decay, that reflect impermanence, and carry a sense of the earth they were sustained by. For me, the life cycles and connections evoked by these things bring up questions of what sustains me in my own life. Nature's ever-evolving and incomplete beauty is an affirmation of the similar beauty I look for in other aspects of my life.
Mi trabajo actual es en el arte del teñir. Me gusta este proceso porque incorpora dos elementos muy diferentes: control detallado, y sorpresa completa. Mi trabajo en rozome, tambien llamado batik o pintar con cera, es un ejercicio en concentración. Depende en la aplicación de cera caliente en la tela, a la temperatura correcta, con la presión correcta, para alcanzar el efecto deseado. La aplicación de los colores, particularmente con "tie-dye," es el opuesto. Mientras yo mezclo mis colores especificamente y ato mis telas con fuerza, los colores y diseños son sorpresas. Es mágico cada vez.
My current focus is on dyeing. I enjoy dyeing because it incorporates both the elements of detailed control and complete suprise. My work in rozome, also called batik, or wax resist dyeing, is an exercise in concentration. It depends upon exact placement of the hot liquid wax on the cloth, at the right temperature, with the right amount of pressure, to create the desired effect. My dyeing, particularly my tie-dyeing, or shibori, is the opposite. While I take care to mix my dyes properly and bind my fabrics tightly, the final colors and patterns are always a suprise. It is magical every single time.

Busco inspiración tambien en lugares silvestres. Me encanta observar y dibujar las plantas en épocas diferentes del crecer y deterioro, que reflejan el pasaje del tiempo, y traen un sentido de la tierra que las sostuvo. Para mi, los ciclos de la naturaleza me hacen reflejar en la pregunta de que es que me sostiene en mi propia vida. La belleza imcompleta, siempre en evolucion, de la naturaleza es una afirmación de la misma belleza que busco en otros aspectos de mi vida.

Aunque parezca mentira empecé desde pequeña, con los muñequitos de fisher price, la casita del árbol y demás, primero con el urbanismo y el diseño interior, los empaques de unicel tenían una segunda vida en mi cuarto de juegos..y aparecían las casitas, los departamentos, los balnearios.. Me gusta imaginar, crear espacios. Estudié arquitectura.

Belive it or not, I'd start as a child playing with fisher price's little dolls, the tree house and some more, at the beginning doing some urbanism and interior design, unicel packs were reused at my play room..and little houses apartments and even bathing facilities appear..I love to imagine, love to create spaces. I did architecture.
As I grew up design surrounded me, furniture, clothes, jewelry, looking forward to create something different, original, uncommon but discreet, simple. My mother had always use big sterling earrings, I do not reach to remember her without it. To me, jewelry it's a reference point, I used to look for original pieces among artisans. Even though jewelry has an important tradition in Mexico it is consider as craft and commercial successful design are repeated in excess at jewelry stores as well as informal stalls.
After my kid was born my life change dramatically and so I did..I mean, I change but not at all..I keep designing but small scale. My work is full of architectural references which I'm not able to remove, geometrical shapes, solid colors: simple pieces.

Hola Etsians! Me llamo Pia y les escribo desde Buenos Aires, Argentina. Quería contarles algo sobre la carrera que estoy cursando: Diseño Industrial. Se trata de una carrera relativamente nueva (en mi pais surgió alrededor de 1985). Nos entrenan para diseñar todo tipo de productos. Desde piezas de packaging hasta automoviles. Es una carrera absolutamente apasionante y como dicen varios diseñadores, "es un camino de ida" ya que una vez que se ve el mundo a traves del filtro del diseño no hay manera de volver a disfrutar de los objetos como un usuario inocente.

Estar en la FADU es estar en el centro del diseño argentino. Se encuentra mucha variedad de gente. Por ser una universidad pública y gratuita, uno puede encontrar desde personas muy talentosas y apasionadas por lo que hacen hasta gente que no esta segura de lo que quiere hacer y pasa a probar. Los profesores son los mejores del pais, son los protagonistas del diseño actual y es un honor imposible de desaprobechar que escuchen tus ideas y participen en tu formación.

You find many types of people. FAHpopupsEs muy dificil terminar esta carrera en el tiempo programado por la universidad (5 años), muchos la terminan en 6. Es una carrera apasionante pero desgastante. Aparte de aprender a proyectar uno adquiere y perfecciona varias habilidades de trabajo manual ya que aparte de mostrar nuestros diseños en láminas, se entregan maquetas, modelos o a veces prototipos. En otras palabras, nos la pasamos lijando! jajaj Respiramos todo tipo de gases tóxicos habidos y por haber. Con el avance de la carrera uno se va armando su caja de herramientas en la que no falta el barbijo y máscara para filtrar gases, antiparras, guantes, etc. Hay que ser muy organizado para dormir bien. Yo pensé que esto último era un mito o creencia durantes mis primeros meses en la FADU, que era solo para los "vagos" que no terminaban las cosas a tiempo: ERROR jaja por más aplicado que uno sea, para obtener buenos resultados hay que trabajar MUCHO y el tiempo estipulado es poco por lo que se termina durmiendo menos. Más alla de esto, los resultados son tan gratificantes que las horas sin dormir, los gases tóxicos respirados, el dolor muscular por tanto lijar y masillar y todo lo demás no importan.

FAHpopupsNosotros tenemos pocos parciales o exámenes pero sí muchos días de entrega de trabajos prácticos. Los días de entrega son mis favoritos. Son muy estresantes los días anteriores pero todo ese estres se vá una vez que uno ve su proyecto sobre la mesa de la facultad junto a tantos otros proyectos de sus compañeros. Como mi cátedra de diseño dice "los dias de entrega son una fiesta". Tantas ideas y esfuerzo inspiran y dan ganas de continuar.
We have few exams but lots of works to turn in. Those days are my favorites. The days before those are very stressful but all that stress goes away when you see your project on the table next to so many other projects of your friends. As my design professors say "turning in days are a festivity". So many ideas and effort inspire and give strength to continue.

FAHpopupsEsta carrera no es para cualquiera sinó para aquel que disfruta proyectar. No hay muchas horas de estudio pero si muchísimas horas de trabajo manual. Es recomendable aprender a dibujar y perfeccionar habilidades de modelado y manualidades. Tiene cierto grado de tecnicismo, no es una carrera artistica. Aparte de la creatividad se requiere poder abstraer y formular procesos quasi científicos para diseñar.

¡Hola! Me llamo Anna y soy finlandesa, pero vivo en México desde hace algunos años. Estoy haciendo un posgrado, pero en mi tiempo libre hago artesanías.
Hi! My name is Anna and I’m from Finland, but I have lived in Mexico for couple of years now. I’m a postgraduate student, but on my free time I love craft.
Siempre me ha gustado hacer todo tipo de artes y artesanías. Me encanta pintar, dibujar y tejer, por ejemplo, y quisiera siempre aprender nuevas manualidades. Pero la idea de empezar a hacer joyería me vino cuando ya me había mudado en México. Aquí también nació la idea de vender los collares y pulseras que hago. ¡Y qué mejor lugar para eso que en Etsy!
I have always liked making all kinds of crafts and arts. I love to paint, draw and knit, for example, and I would always like to learn new crafts. But I got the idea of starting to make jewellery when I had already moved to Mexico. Here I also got the idea the sell the bracelets and necklaces I make. And what a better place for that than Etsy!

La cultura es tan colorida y fascinante, y en todas partes del país hay diferentes y hermosas formas de artesanía. Since I moved here, Mexico has been a great inspiration for me in many ways. The culture is so fascinating and colorful, and there are different and beautiful crafts everywhere. Everything around me can inspire my jewelery and art, as well as the memories of dear Finland.
Las pinturas de estambre que vendo en mi tiendita, muestran esta inspiración bien. La técnica de hacer imágenes combinando estambre y cera de abeja es inventada por los indígenas huichol. Me encanta esa técnica, pero lo uso para crear algo mío, contar mis historias.
Espero que también en el fututo pueda contar historias a través de mi arte y mi joyería.
The yarn paintings I have in my Etsy shop show this inspiration well. The technique of making pictures combining yarn and beeswax is invented by the Huichol Indians. I love the technique, but use it to create something of my own, to tell my stories.
I hope that I can tell stories through my art and my jewelery also in the future!

Hola queridos miembros de Etsy en español, yo soy Susana de Earth Expressions y me encantaría compartir con ustedes algunas ideas de empaque y envío de las cuales he estado leyendo últimamente.
Para toda persona que tenga un negocio en línea, aquí hay algunas ideas importantes para tomar en consideración cuando envíen por correo artículos a sus clientes.
1. El cliente tendrá una grata impresión si su artículo llega a salvo y atractivamente empacado, por lo tanto sería bueno poner un poquito más de esfuerzo en hacer el paquete más seguro y original. Puedes usar sellos, etiquetas, adhesivos, material reciclado, cintas, pintura, burbujas de plástico, sobres acolchados, etc., para hacer tu paquete especial... se artístico e innovador.
2. Añade una simpática nota de "Gracias". Sería un lindo detalle personal y tu cliente lo adoraría.
3. Añade una copia impresa de la orden. Esto será muy útil en caso de que el paquete se rompa o dañe ya que el encargado del correo sería capaz de encontrar la dirección de destinatario dentro del mismo y lo podría enviar a salvo a su destino.
4. Añade un regalito extra si fuera posible, puede ser un ejemplo de tu trabajo, algún artículo promocional útil o simplemente un caramelo.
5. Una buena idea sería enviar un Certificado de Regalo (desactivado) con un lindo diseño. Quizá tu cliente decida activarlo después para regalárselo a alguien. Eso significaría más ventas para ti :)
6. Puedes añadir también un Cupón de Descuento e invitar a tu cliente a regresar a tu tienda.
7. Siempre añade un par de tus tarjetas de negocio, así podrán ubicarte en cualquier momento.

Hello dear members of Etsy in Spanish, I am Susana from Earth Expressions and I would like to share with you some tips about Packaging and Shipping Tips that I was reading lately.
For everybody who runs an online business, there are a few important things to take in consideration when mail your items to your customers.
1. Your customer will have a good impression if the item arrives safely and attractively packaged, so, put a little extra effort in make your package original and secure. You can use stamps, tags, stickers, recycled materials, ribbons, paints, bubble wrap, padded envelopes, etc., to make it special... be artistic and innovative.
2. Add a nice handwritten "Thank You" note. That's your personal touch and your customer will love it :)
3. Add a printed copy of the order. It will be very useful if by any chance the package got shredded in transit because the shipper would be able to find the address inside and send it safely to its destiny.
4. Add an extra gift if possible, maybe a sample of your work, a useful promotional item or just a candy.
5. A great idea would be to send a nice designed Gift Certificate, maybe your customer decides to activate it later and give it as a gift. That means more sales for you too :)
6. You can add a Discount Coupon and invite your customer to come back.
7. Add always a couple of your business cards.

Hello dear members of Etsy in Spanish, I am Susana from Earth Expressions and I would like to share with you some tips about Packaging and Shipping Tips that I was reading lately.
For everybody who runs an online business, there are a few important things to take in consideration when mail your items to your customers.
1. Your customer will have a good impression if the item arrives safely and attractively packaged, so, put a little extra effort in make your package original and secure. You can use stamps, tags, stickers, recycled materials, ribbons, paints, bubble wrap, padded envelopes, etc., to make it special... be artistic and innovative.
2. Add a nice handwritten "Thank You" note. That's your personal touch and your customer will love it :)
3. Add a printed copy of the order. It will be very useful if by any chance the package got shredded in transit because the shipper would be able to find the address inside and send it safely to its destiny.
4. Add an extra gift if possible, maybe a sample of your work, a useful promotional item or just a candy.
5. A great idea would be to send a nice designed Gift Certificate, maybe your customer decides to activate it later and give it as a gift. That means more sales for you too :)
6. You can add a Discount Coupon and invite your customer to come back.
7. Add always a couple of your business cards.
