Comencé en Etsy casi de casualidad, allá por el 2006, con www.indiaylaluna.etsy.com cuando aún trabajaba en un hotel en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Empecé llevando a mi trabajo muñecos para coser a mano en esas tardes aburridas en que el trabajo mermaba, los mismos muñecos que le regalaba a mi pequeña India que había cumplido un añito. Un día, en agosto del 2006, me despidieron de mi puesto y me encontré con mucho tiempo libre y muchas ganas de, por fin, hacer algo que realmente amara……

Fue así que decidí vender bolsos, carteras y ropita hecha a mano en mi primer tienda….Pero las ventas tardaban en llegar y yo necesitaba dinero para vivir ya que recién me había separado del papá de mi pequeña, y, aunque sabía que Etsy me ofrecía todo lo que yo estaba buscando: trabajar desde mi casa siendo mi propio jefe y así poder estar más tiempo con mi hija, tuve que aceptar un puesto como maestra de niños en un jardín de infantes cerca de casa por 3 horas cada tarde…. No era mucho tiempo fuera, pero mis deseos estaban puestos en hacer de Etsy mi única fuente de trabajo…

Durante el 2007 y 2008 fui maestra de niños de 4 años y, paralelamente, empecé a poner en India y la Luna toda mi energía para hacerla exitosa. No recuerdo cuando, y viendo que las piezas en plata se vendían muy bien, decidí desempolvar mis viejas y olvidadas herramientas de orfebrería (había hecho un pequeño taller allá por el 2003) y probar con ese rubro…. Y fue entonces que descubrí mi verdadera vocación: LA ORFEBRERÍA!!!

And so I decided to sell handbags, purses and handmade clothes on my first shop... But sales were slow in coming and I needed the money to live because I had recently separated from my baby's dad, and though Etsy offered me everything I was looking for: work from home and being my own boss and spend more time with my daughter, I had to accept a position as teacher in a kindergarten near home for 3 hours each afternoon... Not much time away, but my desires were on making Etsy my exclusive job.

During 2007 and 2008 I was four years old kindergarten teacher and, simultaneously, I began to put in India y la Luna all my energy to make it successful. I do not remember when, and seeing the silver pieces were sold very well, I decided to dust off my old and forgotten jewelry tools (I had done a small workshop back in 2003) and test with this category.... And then I discovered my true vocation, metal smith!

I have always liked making all kinds of crafts and arts. I love to paint, draw and knit, for example, and I would always like to learn new crafts. But I got the idea of starting to make jewellery when I had already moved to Mexico. Here I also got the idea the sell the bracelets and necklaces I make. And what a better place for that than Etsy!

Ingredientes:

Una porción de Madrid, toneladas de pasión, kilos de mi isla en el mar mediterraneo. Una varita mágica, 100 gr de transformación, rebanadas de naturaleza. Un espejo mágico, litros de cosas bonitas, toneladas de viajes.

Tiempo: depende de si viene mi ayudante

Dificultad: con mucho amor es mucho más fácil.

Pongo, quito, añado, un poquito de color, un poquito de madera, cristal, corto la plata, modulo el cuero…..y voilá….*****surge….sin saber cómo….Lo pruebo…ummmm….toque de varita y chan¡¡ magia¡¡ …si el espejo mágico me dice que si….entonces doy a probar mi receta a mis amigas…y entonces ya la hago mía…esperando a que pueda ser de otras y cocinarla para mucha más amigas…que viajen por el mundo y así se extienda el espíritu de emesinmas…
Tengo hambre de nuevo…cocinaré algo complemente SIEMPRE diferente..quizás un postre

I then try my recipe for my friends ... and then .... and I also hope to be able to cook for others and more friends .... traveling the world and spreading the spirit of emesinmas ...

Again I get hungry ... cook something different .. maybe a complementary dessert.

Mi padre nació en Nueva York pero su familia vivia en Mayaguez dónde se crio mi mamá. Un día el fue a visitar a su familia y alli es donde conocio mi mamá. Aunque mi papá tuvo que regresar a Connecticut dentro de tres meses, regreso hacia Puerto Rico para pedir su mano en matrimonio. Al casarse mi mamá regreso con mi papá hacia Connecticut para vivir. En Agosto cumplen 35 años de matrimonio. De veras que han sido un gran ejemplo para mi y mi esposo.

My dad was born in New York , but his family lived in Mayaguez were my mom was born and raised. One day he went to go visit his family and met my mom. Although my dad returned to Connecticut within three months he returned and married my mom. She moved back with him to live in Connecticut after their wedding. In August they will have been married for 35 years. They have set such a great example for me and my husband.

Aunque he vivido en Connecticut toda mi vida, desde bebe he viajado hacia Puerto Rico . Cuando mi abuelita todavia estaba viva, mis padres viajaban a Puerto Rico cada año. Por lo cual me encanta la comida borinquena al igual que la música. Mi plato favorito es el arroz con gandules, chuletas fritas, plátanos verdes y un cantito de aguacate. Al igual me encanta la musica Latina tal como la salsa y el merengue.

Although I have lived in Connecticut all of my life, I have been traveling to Puerto Rico as a baby. My first trip to Puerto Rico was when I was six months old. As such, I love my Puerto Rican food. My favorite food is yellow rice with pigeon peas, friend pork chops, plaintains, and a slice of avocado. I also love my Spanish music, both salsa and merengue.


De dia, trabajo como Paralegal en una oficina de abogados. He tenido el mismo trabajo por casi ocho años gracias a un jefe maravilloso.

During the day I work as a Paralegal Manager at a local law office. I have had the pleasure of being at the same job for almost 8 years thanks to a wonderful boss.


De noche y en los fines de semana me dedico a mi arte de joyeria en plata fina y otros metales preciosos y de vidrio. Trabajo tarde por la noche. Debido a que tengo muchos shows en el verano mi esposo amorosamente me ha dejado poner mi mesa en la sala para que podamos estar juntos mientras estoy en mi proceso creativo. Haci que tengo dos estudios. Uno donde se encuentran mis dos kilns y el otro es mi sala donde tengo una de mis mesas de trabajo. Usualmente cuando mi esposo se acuesta me quedo con la television prendida y sigo creando en la sala.

My nights and weekends I dedicate to my art jewelry creations. I work with fine silver, as well as other precious metals and also create my own dichroic glass and enamel jewelry. I work late into the night. As I have quite a busy summer show schedule, my husband has lovingly allowed me to place a huge work table right in the middle of our dining room so that we are able to spend time together while I work. This means I have two studios, one being my work room and office where I keep both of my kilns another work table, my glass grinder and also my computer and the other being the living room. Usually when my husband goes to bed I keep the tv on and continue creating.


Encontré mi pasion hace tres años cuando mi amiga me invitó a que fuera con ella a una clase de joyeria. Quedé encantada y aunque ella jamás regreso lo demás es historia para mi.

I found my passion for jewelry making three years ago when a friend for work asked me to go with her to a jewelry class. I fell in love and while my friend never returned to take another class, the rest for me was history. As of February 2009, I am a certified Art Clay Silver Level 1 instructor.

Hola! My name is Priscilla the name of my store is boquita66. I am from San Juan Puerto Rico, almost a year ago we moved from Puerto Rico to Kalamazoo Michigan, what a big change, from a Tropical Island to the Snow!

On december 2008 for the first time in our life ( my kids and me my husband is my lovely Gringo) we saw snow! . Just imagine how much fun we had, I was like a little kid running and playing and making big balls of snow.


Mi pasión desde siempre, son los aretes. Comenzé en este maravillos mundo de creaciones hace algunos 5 años cuando estaba buscando un set de aretes y collar para mi fiesta de Navidad, como se me hizo dificil encontrar lo que queria, tuve la idea de crear para mí lo que andaba buscando, y los resultados fueron maravillosos! Fui la estrella de mi fiesta con mi set de pantallas y collar hechos con cuentas de cristal Swarovski y piedras Checas. Mis amigas me preguntaban en donde había comprado mis accesorios y cuando les dije que yo fui la que lo hice, se sorprendieron! Desde ese momento y con algunos talleres más, empezé a crear accesorios para mí y como regalos para mis amistades y familia. A las personas les gustó tanto que ellos empezaron a ordenar piezas para ellos mismos y como regalos. Luego vendí en unas cuantas tiendas, en una de esas tiendas una encantadora dama me habló sobre Etsy y aquí estoy.

My passion,since forever, are the earrings. I started in this wonderful world of creations about 5 years ago when I was looking for an special set of earrings and necklace to wear for my X-mas Party because was difficult to find what I was looking for I just have the idea of to create for myself what I was looking for become to my head and the results were awesome! I was the star of the party with my Swarovski and Czech beads Necklace Set. My friends were asking me where I bought it and when I told them that I made it, they were surprised! Since that moment and a couple of workshops more, I started to make jewelry for myself as well as gifts for friends and family. People liked it so much, that they started to order pieces for themselves and gifts. I started selling in a few stores, on one of those stores, a really nice lady told me about Etsy and here I am.

Hola a todos, mi nombre es Irene, y mi espacio en etsy se llama aroluna. Soy argentina, y en Buenos Aires fui a la Escuela de Joyería. Pase los últimos cinco años que estuve en Argentina en Villa Gesell, un hermoso pueblito turístico al lado del mar, con calles de tierra, que se llena de gente en verano y esta vació durante el invierno cuando hace mucho frió.

Junto con mi esposo y nuestros dos hijos varones, llevábamos una vida bastante bohemia, rodeados de artesanos, y trabajando los dos con plata y piedras engarzadas.
Hasta que se presento la oportunidad de venir a vivir a Estados Unidos y nuestra vida cambio por completo.

Actualmente residimos en la soleada Florida, a media hora de la playa y disfrutamos de los inviernos mas hermosos. Luego de intentar en art shows, sin encontrar el camino para seguir con nuestro pasión y oficio, por muchos años lo dejamos de lado.

Hasta que un día descubrí Etsy. Y descubrí también que es mucho mas que negocios, que es una comunidad de artesanos y artistas, un movimiento y una oportunidad. Hace unos seis meses abrí mi espacio "aroluna". Hoy estoy abocada a aprender el camino de Internet (soy de otra generación) para desarrollarlo.

Mi joyería es de plata y a veces oro. En este momento trabajo con alambre y piedras y diversas cuentas. No tengo temor de mezclar plata con mostacillas, siento que las cuentas han sido utilizadas en todos los tiempos y civilizaciones para el adorno personal y me parecen bellas.

Siempre trato de que mis piezas sean muy confortables de llevar y se sienta su presencia al usarlas. Me gusta sentirlas moviéndose a los lados de la cabeza, sentir el sonido de los brazaletes y las tobilleras o destacar el movimiento visual de un anillo.

Me gusta la asimetría como en la naturaleza y tiendo a la formas circulares. No me alcanza el tiempo para plasmar todo lo que tengo en mi imaginación. Me hace muy feliz tener esta pasión por crear adornos para usar, y estoy fascinada por el hecho de que otras personas puedan apreciar las piezas y disfruten de llevarlas.

Hello everyone. My name is Irene and my place on Etsy is "aroluna". I was born in Argentina and in Buenos Aires I attended Jewelry School. The last five years I spent in Argentina, they were in Villa Gesell, a beautiful, touristic, little town by the sea that is crowded during the summer and empty during the cold winter.

Together with my husband and our two boys we lived quite a bohemian lifestyle, surrounded by artisans and making jewelry with silver and gem stones.
Until the day we were presented with the opportunity to come to the United States and our lives completely changed.

Currently we reside in sunny Florida, half an hour from the beach and enjoying the best winters. After trying the art shows venue and not finding the way to continue with our trade and passion, for many years we left it apart.

In my jewelry I use mostly sterling silver and sometimes gold. I am currently working with wire and stones and diverse beads. I'm not afraid of combining seed beads with silver, I know that beads have been used in all times and civilizations as adornments and I found them a beautiful thing.

I always try to make my pieces comfortable to wear and where you can feel their presence. I like to feel the movement at the sides of the head, listen to the sound of bracelets or anklets, or enjoy the outstanding curves of a ring.

I love asymmetry like in nature, and circular forms. I don't have the time to create every thing I have in my imagination. I'm delighted by having this passion to create ornaments for people to wear and I am fascinated by the fact that others can appreciate my pieces and take pleasure in having them on.
