No cabe duda que el profesionalismo ante sus creaciones hace destacar la calidad de todo lo que realiza.
Pero se pone aún más interesante cuando esta artista porteña decide ir más alla de una simple joya para convertirla en una obra de arte y un ejemplo de creatividad. Creo, sin duda, que esto lo logra con su magnífica serie lúdica. Son joyas de plata, preciosas, excelentemente terminadas y con una especie de pequeño juego incluído. Podemos admirar sus anillos con chapitas que recorren rieles y van haciendo variar el diseño tallado, o los "Dijes Juego" con bolitas y obstaculos, con transparencias en acrilico.
No quiero dejar de mencionar sus otros experimentos con bellísimas telas o delicadas piedras en tonos varios.
Es evidente que estas joyas no podrían ser confundidas ni mimetizarse con la joyeria del montón, y aún así, no pierden ese toque de elegancia y buen gusto que siempre se busca en un material como la plata.
Claramente Muriel ha encontrado una vuelta de tuerca muy interesante dentro de la joyería tradicional, y ese es el valor agregado de esta artista que nos deslumbra dia a dia con sus piezas de colección.
With a clear industrial tendency in her work, Muriel Clemenceau creates an imaginary space where techniques and materials combine in an infinitely rich variety. This virtual creative space goes by the name of Mu, urban jewelry.
No doubt, her professional approach to her creations highlights the quality of everything she makes.
But it gets even more interesting when this “porteña”* artist decides to go beyond simple jewelry to transform it in a work of art and an example of creativity. I believe without doubt that this is achieved in her magnificent ludic series. They are silver jewels, preciously and superbly finished and with a kind of embedded game in them. We can admire her sliding pendants, which vary their engraved design as they slide on tracks, or her “Charms Game” with spheres and obstacles with acrylic transparencies.
I don’t want to forget to mention her other experiments with beautiful fabrics or delicate stones in various shades.
Evidently these jewels could not be confused or disappear among common jewelry, and they don’t lose that touch of elegance and good taste that we always look for in a material such as silver.
Clearly Muriel has found a very interesting twist within traditional jewelry, and that is the added value form this artist that amazes us day by day with her collections.

*Cuentanos sobre ti misma: nombre, de donde eres, etc. / Tell us about yourself; your name, where you are from, etc.
Me llamo Marta y vivo en Barcelona aunque nací y crecí en una ciudad a unos 70km de Barcelona que se llama Vic. Desde pequeña disfrutaba pintando, dibujando, haciendo figuras en barro y pasaba tardes enteras creando pulseras con hilos o plástico. Mi madre tenía claro que para hacerme feliz solo tenía que darme un papel y un lápiz o dejar que me ensuciara jugando con el barro haciendo figuritas. Con tan sólo dos años hice un mural en una de las paredes de casa con plastidecor que hasta hace poco aún conservábamos.
My name is Marta and I live in Barcelona, although I was born in Vic, a city about 70 km from Barcelona. Ever since I was a little child I enjoyed painting, drawing, making clay figures and I used to spend whole afternoons creating bracelets with string and plastic. My mother knew that to keep me happy all I needed was a piece of paper and a pencil or to let me get dirty playing with clay and making little figures. When I was only about two years old I made a mural in one of our home walls using a plastic modeling medium. We had this mural until recently!

Actualmente tengo Atón, Geb, Nut, Isis y Flor de Lotus. Todas ellas surgen del antiguo Egipto, de sus dioses y de las creencias que nos han llegado hasta nuestros días. Admiro la joyería de Alemania y disfruto con la técnica que tienen construyendo y realizando joyas. Me gusta mezclar técnicas modernas con diseños más personales y nuevas visiones de las joyas antiguas. Mi pasión por las piedras me llevó a estudiar gemología para ir a Alemania a aprender Talla de Piedras. Aunque al final no me moví de Barcelona, esto me abrió una ventana a un mundo increíble, con montones de minerales por descubrir y trabajar.
De pequeña jugaba con mi hermana. Yo quería ser veterinaria porque me encantan los animales, en casa hemos tenido gatos, tortugas, hámsteres, peces y una cotorra. Mi hermana coleccionaba minerales y leía todos los libros que caían en sus manos sobre el antiguo Egipto. Ahora miro hacia atrás y sonrío. Mi hermana está estudiando medicina y yo soy gemóloga, y espero que pronto historiadora del arte. La vida da muchas vueltas.
Currently I have Atón, Geb, Nut, Isis and Lotus Flower. All of them come from the ancient Egypt, from its gods and goddesses and the beliefs that survive till today. I admire German jewelry and enjoy their technique very much. I love to mix modern techniques with more personal designs and new takes on old jewels. My passion for stones led me to the study of gemology so I could go to Germany to learn lapidary. Although at the end I did not leave Barcelona, this opened for me windows into an incredible world, with lots of minerals to discover and utilize.
I used to play with my sister as a child. I though I would become a veterinarian because I love animals! At home we had cats, turtles, hamsters, fish and a parrot. Mi sister used to collect minerals and used to read every book about ancient Egypt she could get her hands into. Now, when I look back I smile; my sister is studying medicine and I am a gemologist and soon, I hope, and Art Historian. Life takes many turns☺
*¿Por qué el nombre de tu tienda? / Why your store name?
Cuando terminé la escuela ya decidí mi nombre, era el nick que usaba en internet y es una simplificación de mi nombre completo "Marta Sanchez Oms" - Masaoms. No quería buscar un nombre ajeno al mío, mi obra me representa a mí y yo soy mis piezas.
When I finished school I had already decided my name. It was the handle that I used on the Internet and it is a simplification of my whole name; "Marta Sanchez Oms" - Masaoms. I did not want to find a name alien to me. My work represents me and I am my work.
*Películas, música y libros favoritos. (si es que los hay) / Films, music and favorite books?
Ufff, esto ya es más complicado, me encanta la música y leer es una de mis pasiones desde los 6 años. No puedo nombrar todas mis películas favoritas pero si que me encanta Johnny Depp, Tim Burton y Steven Spielberg. Soy una aficionada de Indiana Jones y me he tragado todas las películas de Walt Disney. En casa las más vistas son "Los Goonies", "La princesa prometida" y "El club de los poetas muertos". Libros favoritos tengo muchísimos!! Ahora mismo estoy leyendo "El Jardinero Fiel" y, a parte, tengo en mi estantería toda la saga de Crónicas Vampíricas de Anne Rice, toda la bibliografia de Paul Auster y algunos que otros best sellers americanos. De música me encanta Michael Jackson, Coldplay, Rammstein, Mika, Ben Lee, Nek, The Beattles, Abba,...la lista seria interminable. Siempre trabajo con la radio encendida, no podría vivir sin la música.
Ohh, that is more complicated, I love music and reading is one of my passions since I was 6 years old. I cannot name all my favorite movies, but I can say I really like Johnny Depp, Tim Burton and Steven Spielberg movies. I am a fan of Indiana Jones and have devoured all of Walt Disney movies. At home the most seen are “The Gonnies, “La Princesa Prometida” and the “Dead Poets Society”.
Favorite books…I have so many! Right now I am reading “The Faithful Gardener” and I in my shelves I have the entire Ann Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, all of Paul Auster bibliography and some American best-sellers as well. In music I love Michael Jackson, Coldplay, Rammstein, Mika, Ben Lee, Nek, The Beatles, Abba…the list goes on. I always work with the radio on. I could not live without music.
*¿Haces algo más aparte de tu obra? / What else you do aside your work?
Me encanta dibujar, con un papel y lápiz en las manos me pasan las horas sin que me de cuenta. Lo que me gusta más es hacer retratos, busco modelos de revistas y las dibujo con algunos cambios. Mi novio es ilustrador y pasamos ratos trabajando juntos. Mi otra gran pasión es mi gatito "Xino", cuando no estoy trabajando estoy en casa jugando con él y mimándolo, es muy cariñoso.
I love to draw, hours can go by unnoticed with only a paper and a pencil. What I like the most is to draw portraits. I look for models in magazines and draw and change them. My boyfriend is an illustrator and we spend some time working together as well. My other great passion is my kitten “Xino”. When I am not working I am at home playing with him and spoiling him☺ he is very loving.
*¿Cómo promueves tu tienda y tu trabajo? / How do you promote your shop and your work?
Tengo página web desde hace bastante tiempo y también uso el Flickr como archivo de mis trabajos. Además dirijo y edito un bloc de joyería contemporánea desde agosto de 2006. Con una media de 20.000 visitas mensuales, se ha convertido en un lugar de encuentro de joyeros de todo el mundo.
I’ve had a web page for a while now and I also use Flickr as my work archive. I also have a contemporary jewelry blog that I direct and edit since August 2006. With an average of 20,000 monthly visits, it has become a point of contact for jewelers from around the world.
*¿Qué planes tienes para el 2009? ¿Algún proyecto en especial? / What plans do you have for 2009? Any special project?
Mi gran proyecto es mi taller de joyería, seguir trabajando en colecciones nuevas, hacer exposiciones y presentarme en concursos como llevo haciendo desde hace más de un año. Me gustaría poder viajar a Francia o Alemania para visitar alguna feria y algunos joyeros de otros países. Me estoy planteando ampliar mi tienda Etsy y abrir otra con venta de piedras.
My great project is my jewelry studio and to keep creating new collections, organize shows and enter contests like I’ve been doing for over a year now. I would like to travel to France and Germany to visit some craft fairs and meet craftsmen from other countries. I am planning to grow my Etsy store and open another dedicated to stones.
