Soy venezolana y vine a vivir a los Estados Unidos con la ilusión de tener una vida mejor, que en estos momentos para un Venezolano eso se traduce a vivir con mayor seguridad y tranquilidad básicamente. Como todos los que emigramos, dejamos atrás familia y yo particularmente deje mi trabajo, el cual extraño mucho.
Tengo tres años aquí y mucho tiempo libre, siempre estoy pensando en que ocupar mi tiempo.
Me encanta trabajar con mis manos y crear cosas. Desde pequeña tuve inquietud por las manualidades y como creadora he pasado por etapas muy diferentes.
Al principio pintaba figuras de Madera con tema navideño como nacimientos y pisa puertas, también pintaba latas que se utilizaban como macetas para las poincetias (flor de navidad) y los vendía y regalaba en la época decembrina.
Después, en unas vacaciones en Venezuela, fuimos a la playa y vi unos pareos que me quitaron el habla…eran más que solo una pieza para cubrir el traje de baño, era un accesorio que completaba el look playero, una pieza tan importante como el mismo traje de baño.
Hay que destacar que nosotras las venezolana somos muy coquetas, como dice el dicho “Primero muerta que sencilla”. Va para la playa o al club con aretes, pulseras, sandalias con bling bling, bolso de playa de ultima moda, lentes de sol, etc. El único detalle es que en mi país todo es CARISIMO!!!!! Y yo me dije “yo puedo hacer eso por la tercera parte del dinero” y me puse a trabajar.

Like everyone that migrates, we leave family behind and I, particularly, left my work, which I miss dearly.
I have 3 year here and a lot of free time, I'm always thinking in what to occupy my time.
I love working with my hands and creating things. Since I was little I had a restlessness for crafts and as a creator I have passed through very different phases.
At first I painted wood figurines with Christmas themes like mangers and door stops, I also painted cans that were used as pot for poinsettias, I sold them and gave them away as gifts.
Then I started with ceramics and love it, it relaxed me a lot, I spent hours making plates, bowls, cups, trays, etc., until I had no where to keep so many of them.
After that, while vacationing in Venezuela, we went to the beach and saw some beach wear that left me speechless... they were more than just a piece to cover up the swimsuit, it was an accessory that completed the beach look, as important as the swimsuit itself.
It should be noted that we venezuelan women are very flirtatious, like the saying “Better dead than plain”. Goes to the beach or the club with earrings, bracelets, sandals with bling bling, beach bag of the latest trend, sunglasses, etc. The only detail is that everything in my country is very EXPENSIVE!!! And I said to myself “I can do that for a third of the cost” and I got to work.
My sisters and friends loved my designs and started to order them and that's how the idea of this shop began and I called it MORETTIS and that I'm sharing with you here in Etsy.

Siempre me ha gustado el olor de las telas recién planchadas, especialmente el olor del algodón, limpio y humeante. Este hecho es una de las cosas que mi esposo y yo tenemos en común. El día de nuestra boda, mi suegra me comento, creo que recomendándome, que mi esposo disfrutaba enormemente de las sábanas limpias y frescas, algo que de verdad quedó grabado en mi memoria.
Por mucho tiempo estuve buscando y probando diferentes productos que conservaran este singular olor por lo menos un par de semanas después de haberse lavado, pero sin mucho éxito, hasta que me tope con esta increíble receta de Agua de Planchado con esencia de Lavanda:
Ingredientes:
- 1 rociador de 1 litro de capacidad
- 2 ½ tazas de agua destilada
- 1/8 de taza de alcohol
- Aceite esencial de lavanda
- Aceite esencial de menta (opcional)
En el rociador, mesclar el alcohol y aproximadamente 100 gotas de aceite esencial de lavanda y 5 gotas de aceite esencial de menta (opcional). Agitar para emulsionar, después añadir el agua destilada.
¡Y listo! Más sencillo no puede ser, solo hay que recordar de agitar esta mescla antes de cada uso.
¡Es ideal por supuesto para planchar, pero también, para refrescar prendas o como desodorante ambiental, y claro, para las benditas sabanas, porque han de saber que yo por supuesto que no las plancho!

Hola, mi nombre es Andrea, vivo en Texas , y me encanta tejer y crear diferentes cosas como joyeria, tarjetas y muchas otras cosas.
Diseño chalinas, ponchos, chales, ropa de bebe, etc. En general tejo a mano pero también he usado una máquina de tejer.
En mi pais fui entrenadora de las máquinas Singer de tejer, yo me hacia toda mi ropa, como vestidos, sacos, pullovers, pantalones, vestidos de fiesta y ropa para bebes.
Cuando me casé, hace 20 años, y vine a los Estados Unidos no traje mi máquina de tejer (gran error de mi parte). Después de varios años trabajando como Supervisora en un Centro de llamadas, comenzé a pensar en tener mi propio negocio en mi casa y comprar una máquina de tejer para hacer algunas prendas para mi esposo y para vender.
En mi ciudad comenzé a buscar tiendas que vendieran máquinas de tejer, no encontre ninguna, tuve que ir a la internet para buscar una tienda cerca de mi ciudad, encontré la máquina de tejer en el siguiente estado, yo vivo en Texas y compré mi máquina en Nuevo Mexico, me di cuenta que las máquinas de tejer son muy caras mas de $2000 dolares. Me compré una.
Cuando comenze a buscar la lana (estambre) para usar en mi máquina descubri un nuevo mundo, hermoso estambre, que no podia usar en mi maquina de tejer, pero que usando agujas de tejer podria crear otras cosas. Es asi como comenze a tejer con 2 agujas. Diseño chalinas, chales, ponchos, saquitos tejidos con 2 agujas, y finalize el trabajo usando un crochet.
Me gusta usar estambre de muy buena calidad, suave al contacto con la piel y de hermosos colores. En general uso alpaca peruana, seda, cachemira y lana suave al tacto, para darle textura a mis trabajos me gusta usar eyelash en general italiano o frances que compro en 2 tiendas en la internet.
Siento que he alcanzado mi objetivo cuando mi cliente es feliz con el producto y me dice que sus amigas le preguntan donde conseguiste esa chalina? Esta tan Hermosa!

I designs scarves, ponchos, shawls, baby clothing etc. In general I hand knit however sometimes I used a knitting machine.
I was a knitting machine trainer, I did all my clothing, including dresses, jackets, sweater, pants, party dresses, baby clothing, you name it.
When I got married (20 years ago) and came to USA, I did not bring my knitting machine with me (big mistake), after several years working as a Supervisor in a Call Center, I started to think I could buy a new knitting machine to do stuff for me and my husband and have a small business. I started to research in my city for places to buy one, then I realized that in the US, people do not buy knitting machines, like in my country to make their own clothing, meaning no places in my city to buy one..
I started searching the internet looking at the big brands, and I learned the prices were so expensive (almost $2000 for the machine). I bought one, the salesperson was in other city and state close to mine, one of her duties as a knitting machine seller was to provide the first class for her customer, extra classes were $20 per hour; because I did not need the training she gave me a cone of yarn instead...What I wanted was to work doing scarves, but the end product was not what I was expecting ...because I did not know were to find yarn in my city; I started searching the internet for places, brand,..I discovered a new world...
I fall in love with yarn I could not use in my knitting machine, then I started using the needles and crochet again.... I design scarves, shawls, ponchos, baby clothing, scarflette using beautiful yarns combined with different types of textures, that is soft to your skin, light, comfortable, elegant and breath taking.
My goal is reached when my customer is happy with the product she chose and tells me she was asked... .WHERE DID YOU GET THAT? IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL.!..

El Etsy Day se esta acercando.... El Viernes 24 de Abril será el gran día para promocionar en todos lados Etsy.com... Qué podriamos hacer???
Aqui les dejamos algunas sugerencias.
-Promociones especiales.
-Promocionar Esty en nuestros blogs, twitter,facebook, MySpace, Flickr etc, etc...
-Dejar calcamonias o avisos en los Supermercados, locales comerciales, oficinas, lugares de trabajo, etc, etc...

Hola Amigos,
Amor de Plata esta tratando de comenzar su nueva vida aqui en Indiana, USA. Está un poco más frio que las islas de Hawaii aqui, y con menos sol. La nieve es algo nuevo para mi, pero me gusta mucho. El lugar es muy bonito con menos gente. Ahorita se comienza a ver senas de flores de muchos colores. Extraño mis amigos de Hawaii, pero espero hacer muchos nuevos amigos donde estoy. Yo y mi esposo Ray, vivimos con mi hermano, su esposa y sus dos hijas chicas. Ray también esta contento de vivir más cerca de su hija y hermana.
Ahorita tengo más tiempo para mi tienda de Etsy y hacer mis joyas. Acabo de terminar un colgante de un pajarito sobre un árbol. Otra de mis piezas es un corazón grande con pedazos de plata sobre el frente para que brille mas. La otra pieza es una pelota de plata. Las pelotas me gustan porque brillan tan bonito, y llaman mucho la atención. Espero les guste y después les platico más.

Mi tienda se llama “Crear es creer” y la verdad es que todo lo que hago parte de esa filosofía. Creo que hay que rescatar raíces como las indígenas a través de recreaciones más actuales. Creo que hay que volver a lo natural, a lo hecho a mano… Y fundamentalmente pienso que si uno realiza algo es porque sale de lo más profundo de su ser, y eso definitivamente es creer. I think we have to come back to natural, to handmade… and fundamentally I think if we make something is because that comes from the deepest part of ourselves and that is to believe. I always ask myself if this was clear enough because it is written in Spanish, that’s why I’ve made an introduction in my shop where I explain it, and I think is the best way.. I’ve learnt lot of English, why not to teach a little Spanish?
Mi formación / Education
Mi formación artesanal (siempre me he considerado una artesana) data del colegio secundario, en una escuela de arte donde hacíamos cerámica, pintura, trabajos en madera y tejidos. Siempre me gustó diseñar y trabajar con las manos. Desde hace tres años lo he tomado mas profesionalmente y me he especializado en tejidos. Realizo trabajos en tejido de punto, crochet, telar y me fascina especialmente el telar aborigen: mapuche, pampa y laboreo andino.

Para este ano estoy planificando adentrarme un poco en el tema de tintes (sobre todo naturales), pero como es algo que también demanda su tiempo lo voy postergando. También estoy estudiando hacer objetos decorativos y más “artísticos”.

Creo que hay que volver a lo natural, a lo hecho a mano… Y fundamentalmente pienso que si uno realiza algo es porque sale de lo más profundo de su ser, y eso definitivamente es creer. Me gusta mucho trabajar con materiales nobles como la alpaca, la llama y la lana pura de oveja, algodón, lino, seda. Siempre fibras naturales que le dan una calidad diferente a los trabajos.
También utilizo materiales reciclados, por ello algunas de mis creaciones incluyen abalorios que he tomado de collares y bijoux en desuso, que le dan un carácter único e irrepetible y que además hago con muchas ganas porque adoro reciclar!

LaCometaLab
Desde la simplicidad de las formas geométricas mas básicas y primarias se desprende un arte interesante que deja espacio al color y el juego. Los modernísimos broches de (La Cometa Lab.) no dejan atras este concepto potenciado por una tendencia pop para la combinación y elección de los tonos. No son broches ordinarios, ni meros accesorios convecionales, son obras de arte en miniatura.

Soy francesa de nacimiento pero vivo en España desde hace muchos años. Tanto en España como en Francia, he tenido la suerte de tener el mar a mi alcance y he estado implicada en mayor o menor grado con la naturaleza marina, por estos motivos tengo dos aficiones relacionadas con él: las conchas y caracolas marinas han sido mi primera pasión y hace unos 12 años las algas marinas.
Quien podría pensar que se pueden usar algas marinas para realizar unos collages tanto educativos como artísticos?

algaNetA raíz de mi participación en una feria de artesanía, tuve la ocasión de ver un magnífico cuadro de flores prensadas que me dejó impresionada. Así que empecé a prensar alguna que otra flor. Pero mi cuñada, www.amparolopez.etsy.com me sugirió: por qué no lo haces con algas?
Probé y así empezó todo y fue evolucionando: unos marcas-páginas, unos herbarios marinos, unos libros para identificar las algas, visitas al departamento de ficología de la universidad de Málaga, exposiciones municipales, ferias de artesanía en Francia y España, exhibiciones de pared preparadas para escuelas o museos, Internet, eBay y últimamente Etsy.
He creado mi propia técnica para procesar, conservar y prensar las cerca de 150 especies de algas con las cuales compongo mis collages. Basándome en métodos tradicionales de botánica, intento siempre mejorar mi técnica para una óptima conservación de las algas y sobre todo para evitar su decolaración.
La gama de artículos que compongo abarca desde el simple marca-páginas hasta murales multi-panel de gran formato realizados con una desbordante variedad de especies marinas: desde las más pequeñas hasta las gigantes laminarias.

2.- Limpiar y preparar las algas para su prensado. Es un trabajo pesado, un poco mecánico y de alguna forma aburrido. Pero los resultados te pueden llenar de satisfacción y en ocasiones son sorprendentes.
3.- Para mis composiciones científicas, he tenido que estudiar las diferentes especies para poder identificarlas. Es lo más difícil, pues en muchas ocasiones hay algas que se parecen mucho pero son, en realidad, especies diferentes.
4.- Para mis creaciones artísticas necesito también inspiración y motivación. Preparo las composiciones y me gusta... "dormir" sobre ellas. Las dejo descansar y al día siguiente, cambio una alga o dos, a veces vuelvo a empezar y no pego definitivamente nada hasta tener una "sensación especial" ( que me imagino deben tener los pintores y otros artistas para saber cuando su obra "está terminada") que me dice que la combinación de formas y colores corresponden al collage definitivo. El trabajo de pegar es muy meticuloso y delicado. Uso pegamento de barra, pinceles, pinzas y palillos
Las algas verdes, rojas y pardas, los tres grandes grupos de algas, ofrecen una gran variedad de formas y colores pero superarme es el desafío diario para conseguir unos resultados óptimos en toda la gama de mis láminas.
Termino con una sabia frase del oceanógrafo Jacques Cousteau:
"Prueba de la desconfianza de Dios hacia el hombre como guardián de su obra es que plantó el más bello de sus jardines bajo el agua del océano"

Cuando Valeria me dijo que queria que fuese la Dama de Honor de su boda, supe que este era un momento especial para disfrutar y recordar para siempre.
A la misma vez sentí todo el caudal de emociones que se desborda cuando una hermana menor va a casarse.

Ella eligió margaritas, de las silvestres,mezcladas con stefanotis.Su vestido blanco es bien cerrado,estilo dogal o polera de cuello alto y cerrado,porque ella odia mostrar.Sus compañeras vestiran un azul turquesa que va a quedar super elegante con el centro amarillo de las margaritas en los arreglos florales.Yo por mi parte es muy probable que vista de negro porque la Dama de Honor hace lo que quiere(eso es lo que ella me dijo).
She chose daisies,the wild ones mixed with stephanotis. Her white gown has a halter top design,very closed collar because she hates showing. Her bridesmaids will dress a kind of blueish turquoise gown that will look super chic with the yellow centers of the daisies.
Myself.There is a big chance I will wear a black gown because the Maid of Honor does what she wants (That is what she told me).

Vale es muy clasica.Los colores que elegió son rosa fuerte y negro y me dió la "libertad"de elegir los diseños.Yo pense en adamascado o como otros le llamamos arabesco o bulgaro,un estampado muy popular en tapiceria y decoración,una tematica clásica y sofisiticada pero a la vez vibrante. Y empece a buscar en Etsy quien pudiera proveerme de los productos necesarios para esta celebración.

I started to add to my favorites an immense quantity of white items.I found sellers of lace and crocheted flowers,suppliers of antiques of more than 20 years old exquisitely combined with the new and modern. That trend so in style today,mixing the vintage with the current.
Vestidos blancos con plumas.Broches y tiaras.Tarjetas y anotadores,anillos,hasta las mascaras para dormir. Hebillas para decorar el cabello de la novia,decoración para el hogar,almohadones,platos,cuadros,ropa de cama,alfombras y la lista es interminable.
Aún me queda mucho por hacer,pero gracias a Dios tengo hasta el 13 de junio.

Como una especie de almacen creativo, Claudia, la creadora de Deep Indigo, nos enloquece con su variada canasta de productos!
Frescos y hermosos, se nos ofrecen "mini vestidos", coloridos delantales, algunos atuendos para bebe que son exquisitos! Además cierres decorados y encantadores prendedores.
Pero Claudia tiene una habilidad que combina de manera impecable; técnica, buen gusto y mucha originalidad a la hora de ejecutar sus piezas tejidas. Una prenda que me ha encantado son unas medias bien abrigaditas, rayadas, sin dedos ni talon... espectaculares!

My name is Agustina, I am from Buenos Aires and I live in Argentina.
Soy orfebre, cuando tenía trece años ingrese a una escuela industrial allí adquirí mi oficio, cuando termine el secundario me anote en la UBA para estudiar diseño textil y este año me recibí, y estoy muy feliz por eso.
I am a silversmith, when I was thirteen years old I enrolled in an industrial school, where I learned my trade. When I finished high-school y applied to UBA to study textile design and I graduated this year! I am very happy about that.
Otra de mis alegrías es que fui seleccionada para una feria que se llama Puro Diseño y se realiza todos los años acá en Capital. Estoy en un stand en el cual puedo promocionarme como orfebre y diseñadora junto con siete talentos más.
Another one of my joys is that I was selected to a fair called Pure Design that is held every year here in the capital. I am in a booth where I can promote myself as a goldsmith and designer together with other seven talented people.
La verdad es que es una gran ayuda para mi, así puedo hacerme conocida y esto me permitirá trabajar de lo que me gusta que es la orfebrería.
Truth is, this is a great help for me. This way I can be known and this will allow me to work as a goldsmith which is what I like.
I was selected through a godfather: Marcelo Toledo, who had to recommend somebody to the fair organizers, who liked my work because I can make both traditional asn well as contemporary jewelry.
